Burchell´s zebra skin

6 March 2015

www.leopard.tv

QUESTION:

Are there specifications when a zebra skin is cured?

ANSWER:

Yes, Burchell´s zebras have a 40 mm layer of fat beneath the mane which must be removed carefully during taxidermy to prevent the hair of the mane from falling out in a prepared trophy skin. The skin itself is also thick and to obtain full salt penetration it must be incised partly on the inside.
